Heartbreaks are hard as well as time consuming, they almost make us feel dead and the amount of time it takes us to get over someone dear is even more longer.

Traveling changes us, it helps us grow out of things sooner and see life through a broader perspective. It gives us a chance to get away from our realities for a while and take a break from what’s bothering us. The following is a list of places that every broken heart must visit to give themselves some time to sob, accept, heal and move on. The beauty and surroundings of these places will force you to cheer up and live again.

Spiti Valley is the best place to explore the adventurous side of you and enjoy long journeys and splendid views. The majestic lakes and bare landscapes of this place will leave you awestruck and take your mind of all that’s disturbing you. The tricky curves of Spiti will take you to the tiny hamlets, 1000-year-old monasteries and some high suspended bridges that will give you chills. Plus there’s barely any signal, so no updates, no calls, no messages, nothing. Just you and your time to heal.

You may feel worthless after heart is broken, however it's not okay to believe that. Give yourself a royal treat by visiting Udaipur. Away from the urban chaos, it is a blend of regal beauty, elevated slopes and picturesque panorama. Among passive activities, Sunset boat rides at Lake Pichola or Fateh Sagar Lake are excellent options to seek some solace. Go on a shopping spree at Shilpgram or Bada Bazaar or Mochiwada Bazaar to hoard exquisite items like Bandhani sarees, handmade juttis, silver jewellery, bags and authentic Rajasthani handicrafts.

If you think meditation could help you, we recommend planning a trip to Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. Situated on the banks of the holy river Ganga, Rishikesh has been attracting yogis, seekers, artists, writers, and philosophers for many decades now. You can feel the peace within just by visiting places like Parmarth Niketan, Triveni Ghat, Beatles Ashram and the river beaches.

Adventure lovers can embark on kayaking, river rafting, camping and bungee jumping. Face your fears, it will defiantly help to boost your self confidence.

4. Mulki, Karnataka

A beautiful town of Mulki in Karnataka, a short distance from the center of Mangalore City, surrounded by fields and rice paddies. There is the river mouth a short distance away where the Shambhavi and Nandini Rivers meet and flow into the ocean. This place offers tremendous water activities like surfing, SUP, prone paddle sessions, kayaking, towing activities, backwater boating and just frolicking in the water happen here in these waters.

There are plenty of surf schools in Mulki where people around the country come to learn surfing and other activities. They also provide accommodation and homemade food with the training.

5. Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh

If you are the kind who trusts in the healing powers of mountains, Kinnaur could be a great option. Kinnaur is blessed with the magnificent Greater Himalayas, Zanskar, and Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges. Meet new people and make friends on thrilling treks like the Beri Nag Trek and the Kamru Village and Fort Trek.

Explore the picturesque villages of Sarahan, Sangla, Chitkul, and Kalpa. Spend some me-time by the banks of the Sutlej, walk through the pages of history at the Sarahan Palace, and visit lush apple and apricot orchards. Relish local delicacies like bathu ki khir, channa madra, kachalu ka salan, and chicken anardana.

6. Lachung, Sikkim

One of the biggest steps towards moving on is accepting and finding peace with oneself and what better place than Sikkim to do so? This land locked state surrounded my snow capped mountains has numerous monasteries that spread the teachings of Buddhism and humanity. Take a trip down Sikkim and experience the beauty and serenity of this heavenly state.

Lachung and Lachen are the gateway to north Sikkim. The perennial falls, forests of pine, rock garden along the river, and enormous mountains make up the landscape of Lachung. You can also visit an offbeat gem in North Sikkim like Yumthang Valley, Zero points, Gurdongmar lake and Katao.

7. Dzukou Valley, Nagaland

When you have an aching heart, you either want to be wrapped in the arms of someone close or you seek utter solitude where you can ponder over what has actually happened. While both your desires are only natural, seeking solitude is something you must do in order to pick yourself. And doing this while you travel to a place full of solace seems an ideal plan.

Dzukou Valley on the Manipur-Nagaland Border is one of the best places to go with your broken heart. In fact Dzukou is everything you require from a destination to mend your shattered soul. The sprawling lush green valley that comes to life in monsoons with the blooming of wildlife flowers, Dzukou is so far an offbeat destination, which construes on some days, you can have this place all by yourselves. It is a great place to hike, pitch a tent and relish dreamy vistas. By the end of this adventure trip, you’d be more than prepared to get back to your normal life, all strong.

Beaches, clubs, loud music, alcohol and food. All that you need to take your mind off your past is right here. Goa is known for it’s heavenly beaches and views. Watching the sun set into the deep ocean by the beach and then enjoying the beginning of a new day a few hours later is all that one needs to have faith, hold themselves together and believe that after every dark phase there’s light someplace close.

As you wait for your feelings to settle, know that there are ways that you can find comfort, including focusing on self-care and eating the food which makes you feel happy. Eating delicious food can actually change your mood and also help soothe some of the hurt.

The city is unique as the food found here is not just limited to North Indian dishes. Instead, you will see more localized versions of South India, Chinese, and of course Continental in diverse presentations and distinct flavors. Chat, momos, parathas, dal makhani, butter chicken, kabab, chole bhature are the ultimate medicines for a broken-heart.

Okay, just to be clear, we don’t intend to promote resorting to alcohol to get over your pain. Having said that, we do believe that, if consumed in moderation, wine can be great for you. There are scientific studies to show that wine could be good for your health if taken wisely. And what could be a better place to sniff, swirl and sip than India’s wine country.
