● Victoria memorial is one of the most famous and beautiful monuments of kolkata in West Bengal.It is situated near Rabindra Sadan at Kolkata.It was made in the memory of Queen Victoria.
● It's architect was William Emerson who was the president of the Royal Institute of British Architects.The design is in the Indo-Saracenic revivalist style.The construction started in 1906 and ended in 1921.It is constructed of white Makrana marble.The structure is 338/228 feet and rises to a height of 184 feet.
● The monument is surrounded by garden and small lakes.The total area of Victoria memorial is 26 hectors.In front of the main entry point there is a bronze statue of Queen Victoria and at the top of the monument there is an angel that is made of bronze.Iside of the monument there is a museum which has two types of gallery(Royal and Calcutta gallery).
