The Druk White Lotus School is known locally as the Druk Padma Karpo School and is situated in Shey, Leh, in north India. Karpo means “white” and Padma means “lotus” in the native Bodhi language.

The Druk Padma Karpo School in Ladakh, also known as ‘Rancho’s School,’ is overjoyed with the popularity given to it by the Aamir Khan-starrer ‘3 Idiots,’ but the 18-year-old school just doesn’t want the Bollywood link to overwhelm its unique identity and principles.

The Druk White Lotus School is a Buddhist cultural school in the Shey valley, near the Shey Monastery and Palace. It is well-known as the Rancho School from the famous Bollywood film 3-idiots. Despite the fact that it is not a public tourist destination, it has become a popular tourist draw.

The Rancho Wall, which was once the structure where “Chatur” received the electric shock, is the major attraction here. Following its destruction in the 2010 flash floods, a duplicate of this wall was built in a corner of the school grounds. The Rancho School offers a 15-minute guided tour. Within the school grounds, there is also a Rancho’s Cafe and a gift shop.
