Day 1

Kadyavarcha Ganpati near Neral, Matheran is an ideal place if you are looking for a day trek near Mumbai and Pune. This Giant Rock-Cut Ganesha Idol is standing on the edge of a hill in Matheran.

Kada means 'edge' in Marathi, and this name justifies this mind-blowing and majestic idol of the Ganpati cut out from a single boulder. The idol is beautifully painted in vibrant colours and looks huge in size. The best time to visit Kadyavarcha Ganpati is during and post-monsoon i.e. from Aug to Dec. This is the time you witness beautiful mountains surrounded by lush green grass and clouds.

This is one of the easiest treks near Mumbai and Pune. The trek is simple and it is around 4km from the parking. Trekking starts from point 134 (toy train marking). You can park your vehicle and start towards the toy train tracks.

Matheran is Asia’s only automobile free hill station located on the Western Ghats range. There are around 38 designated look-out points in Matheran.
