We are all different breeds of travelers and often that 'travel personality' stems from our own. For me, the most prominent trait is the trait of the planner... and daydreamer.
I am one of those who lives for days in the world of a book that she loves, or spends hours finding ways to change the plot of a story that she doesn't like the end of.
I am also one of those who plans every aspect of her life.
I mean TRIED TO PLAN
And when you mix this combination, with a love of travel, you find a writer who has kept a planner and a notebook for her travel stories in the bag/backpack she is carrying.
So speaking of changing plots and making plans, I had planned a few trips this year, but 2020 is a plot I cannot seem to change.
So using the power of daydreaming and imagination let me take you through my 2020 Travel Diary - from an alternate, Covid-19 free reality...
Let's start with the great Indian desert in the land of the Sonar Killa - Jaisalmer...

Where I would stay in the Zostel Jaisalmer I had wish listed months back! (Especially since the plan was to go alone)
And spend hours in the fortress and camp at the desert and basically have an amazing weekend!
And I know you can do it on a budget - cause a friend of mine did it - her profile below!
Then?
Later in the year, comes my birthday... I had made a pact a few years back to travel somewhere new every birthday.... and as luck would have it - this year - like many many others, I was celebrating a #LockdownBirthday... not that I am complaining... had a good time with my roommate and an amazing cake...
But... in this alternate reality...my best friend and I would have been spending that April Summer in TURKEY!
I have been dreaming about Turkey for years and I really thought 2020 would be my year... so needless to say (again) I had started planning....
Can you really blame me for this Turkish daydreaming?

Alas!
I did not get those Turkish eggs, and I even failed at replicating it in my own kitchen. Poaching an egg is a lot tougher than it looks...
But in this alternate world... where I was traveling... from Turkey I would have come back and taken my mom for a surprise week in the mountains ...
Only this time I had Himachal in my mind...nothing much but enjoy the view from some stunning properties I had shortlisted (and even booked)... places I am definitely figuring a way towards....
Oh, those wooden floors had my heart.. at Echor Narkanda
And those Zostel Homes in Shimla - the one at Kotgargh made me want to move there... it still does... take me... please?
*Sigh*
I don't know when I can set out and get giddy with excitement cause I can travel again. But what I know is that the pandemic can not take away those travel dreams... so keep wishlisting, making plans, spend hours imagining yourself in some beautiful part of the world... and daydream! So will I... :)
