Staying inside the national park is banned, so no lodges or hotels operate there. Most backpacker-friendly, budget resorts and guesthouses are in the town of Sauraha, located on Rapti River's northern bank. But with family, you can splurge a little and find more luxurious accommodation on the outskirts of Sauraha. One fabulous option is the Barahi Jungle Lodge, which is set in the Tharus village, on the banks of the Rapti River.
This is not just a great place to stay, but a complete holiday! The jungle lodge is located right in the middle of the luscious green Chitwan National Park and along the Rapti River. Inside, cobbled stone paths surrounded by towering greenery lead to tastefully-decorated cottages, complete with all luxuries! The bathroom even has a stone tub! My 2 night and 3 day package stay here included a wildlife safari through the massive forest, a quiet canoe ride on the river ending on a small piece of land with drinks and snacks and a thrilling session of elephant bathing. This along with other entertainment, such as local dance performances, a giant pool next to the bar and others. The meals included varied spreads and were delicious. Could not recommend this more! Perfect vacation and complete rejuvenation!
