Heavy rains and thunders couldn't keep our feet stay put at home and hence we started driving to our regular route. Just on the way, we decided to go more further. After exiting Mumbai, we were on Mumbai-Ahmadabad highway with no plan on mind. We sipped our favorite McCafe from McDonald's on the highway. Spent more than an hour here and still there were no plans. Just driving ahead, I came across the highway boards and read Dahanu! And Voila, we got our destination. Yes, we were heading to Dahanu!!!. An impromptu plan over passing board. Sounds exciting? We dealt with it. Lol. We had our lunch on the highway itself at Food Highway Restaurant. Newly opened, good food and clean toilets!Located at Palghar Beach of Maharashtra, Dahanu is a popular place near Mumbai. It is situated at 65 km on the north side of Virar. Dahanu Beach is the prime attraction to the tourists who love spending time at a wonderful beach. As compared to other beaches in Maharashtra, one finds Dahanu beach less crowded and cheap; but that definitely does not at all mean the place lacks something. Dahanu beach possesses various types of resorts, hotels and awesome food as well. Chickoo plantation is the specialty of Dahanu.Just 114.6kms and 2h 50mins away from Mumbai, the drive till Dahanu was smooth. Since 90% of the road was driving on highway, the other 10% wasn't bad either. We reached Dahanu beach at around 5pm. What a lovely and serene beach. One of the neatest beach, though not very clean, neither it was too dirty. Just good to enjoy the perfect sunset. Since it was a low tide, the entire beach was sparsely populated. We loved the sunset and enjoyed our time with delicious Malai kulfi and Pista kulfi for Rish. I really wished we had planned it first cos there was a Dahanu fort and Asavli Dam to see which wasn't too far but we couldn't make it cos of time.Tan.

We are traveloholic.... me, my husband and parents.... ohh how can i forget about my 2 yrs old cute son...As usual we were getting bored on sunday and wanted to go for an outing nearby. so with my in laws, we planned to go foe a half day trip to Bordi and Dahanu beach. we stay in Vapi so these beaches are just 1 hour drive from our home but had never been explored. We started our journey from vapi at around 3:30 p.m. it was a cloudy stormy day in the month of march so we were expecting a good time out there. it took around 45 mins to reach bordi. as soon as we took we reached on an umergaon bordi road paralleling the coast, it started raining andwe started witnessing a stunning atmosphere around the coast. we reached bordi beach but we couln't get out of the car as we it was raining heavily. It was a low tide time and in bordi water goes far inside the sea so there was nothing to cheer about. but apart from this bordi beach is quite clean with lesser crowd aand very few vendors around. one thing you can't miss when you r in bordi and that is "Shiv Panipuriwala". Its the only famous panipuriwala in bordi and i bet u, one can't stop munching these panipuris easily once u start. Another great thing u ll get here is th "chickoo Kulfi". It is locally made kulfi from one of the many chickoo farms around. Now as it was raining, we decided to head towards dahanu which is judt 18kms from bordi. the road towards dahanu are just amazing running parallel to the coast covering few fishermen villages and there are quite e few good views of the sea from the coastal road. We reached dahanu at around 5:30 p.m. and to our surprise its a nice clean beach with very less crowd around, far better than beaches in Daman.there is lot of seating arrangements along the beach side. it was a time for sunset time so we settled at one place and watched the sun setting into the sea. it was such a peace and soothing experience. There are couple of restaurants just opposite the beach road serving fresh sea food. They do have accomodation facilties too. We tried at "Crazy Crab" restaurant for some prawns and crabs and we enjoyed our dinner. We had a beautiful time out dere and were happy to find such a amazing place near our home.

Now struggling through Thane traffic waiting patiently to hit road again. Soon the peaceful environs of yeoor hills came up and my soul was at peace. From there its nice road all the way till Dahanu. But me being me - had to travel road less traveled so took left which goes towards Tarapur. Not a bad road to travel. From there you can see internal roads of village, which leads you Dahanu Bordi strech. Soon you will be in Dahanu...Best part- there is 7/km stretch from Dahanu to Bordi which runs along coastal area. Drive along and enjoy the view.

Dahanu is a coastal city which is located 65 km north of Virar on the Western Railway Line of Mumbai Suburban Railway. It can be reached from National Highway NH-8, 24 km off from Charoti Naka. It is 22 km North of Boisar on the Western Railway line. It has a calm, peaceful and beautiful beach.Perfect place to spend a quiet weekend to rejuvenate away from the hustle and bustle of the Mumbai city.Time taken to travel to Dahanu from MumbaiThis is small hotel with all the basic facilities but the best part is that it faces the sea and the beach is just a minute's walk away.
