On the first day, we decided to explore Ranthambore Fort. It is located within the forest area and there is no entry ticket to the fort. A jeep takes people up to it, or you can use the hotel’s vehicles. The fort is sprawling and there is much to explore in it. Our 'wildlife' sightings began right here, as the place was full of monkeys, peacocks and donkeys! We saw a beautiful kingfisher here too. We heard alarm calls of some monkeys, and were later informed that a panther had been sighted near the Fort!
Our resort was in the buffer zone of Ranthambore National Park. There was a very good service and hospitality. Next day we took a early morning safari of 07:30 after booking through Govt Office in Sawai Madhopur. There are around 7 zones in this park. The tiger seen possibility is higher in zone 3 and zone 4. As you enter the forest, it is a very vast area with dry Deciduous forests and meadows. We spotted the tigress within half an hour of the safari with just 10 feet. There are also other animals in the forest like Sambhar, Crocodile, Bear and Wild Boar. It was an amazing experience. There is also a fort within the forest.
Our trip started on Thursday evening as we rushed after work to board the Jaipur Superfast Express at 6:50 pm from Mumbai Central. At the station we met Dhimesh Patel - an ex banker turned adventurer - who was our trip leader and the only guy without a seat since he had to offer his seat to some lady who joined the trip last minute. We reached Sawai Madhopur next morning at 10:30 and after a quick breakfast checked in to our rooms at the Ranthambhore Forest Resort.
