Ko Samui

Srijita Kundu
This was my first trip to Thailand. My itinerary had to have a stunning beach time to celebrate my first anniversary and also to do justice to a Thailand trip. Why select Koh Samui?Well.... because it would be less touristy and crowdy and allow us seclusion. It is also supposedly less rainy than Phuket during the months of July but equally stunning beaches. And Samui is the place where the famous novel "The Beach" is based on. So, Voila!!!How did we reach Koh Samui?First we landed in Bangkok from Kolkata and then took an Air Asia island transfer package (Flight+ferry) from Bangkok to Samui via Surat Thani. Well its not one of the shortest routes and neither the cheapest way but an optimized way (Neither very expensive nor too time taking).Where did we stay?We booked a beach villa in Prana Resorts near Bo Phut. The place was awesome for one can easily spend days together lazying around on the beach in front of the villas, swimming in the infinity pool enjoying the sea view and sipping onto fresh cocktails or juices. That's what we did for the first day.
Ko Samui is where the Thai romance resides. In one way, it is the beating heart of Thailand which has been seeing an influx of tourists much before the Thai islands become prominent on the map. The island is a fresh breath away from the high energy cities of the inland. It’s like taking a boat ride to nowhere. A nowhere lined up with luxury beach resorts, dimly-lit bars and posh spas along with a palm-filled coastal line and a landscape covered in rain forests.

Angthong National Marine Park is the place you shouldn't miss in Samui. Climbing up to the 500m view point is a bit rough but the view is worth it. Chaweng beach in the morning is a perfext place to take a morning walk too
