Bikaner

Well it was a short stay .Bikaner is known for its bhujia and also variety of sweets.

1.      Ganpati dhaba

This place is on outskirts of Bikaner but they are known for their keshar dryfruit dal bati churma. Bati is stuffed with paneer and coconut mix and it’s pan fried. They serve hot bati with loads of ghee topped up for keshar dryfruits. They give you bura sugar separately. You are supposed to crush those hot batties and mix it with either sugar or dal. Too different from traditional dal bati churma. Also you need strong appetite to finish this dish.  Worth giving a try.

2.      Camel milk products

We went to ICAR , National research centre on camel where they serve products made using camel milk. Camel milk is slightly salty in taste. I tried kulfi and Sumeet had tea. You should give a try as it’s a one of its kind Experience.

4.      Ghewar

While strolling the city, we went to Bhujia bazar. Traditionally ghewar is made during teej or holi but luckily we could get one at Ganshyam Chowdhary sweets. It was mind blowing. Ghewar was dipped in sugar syrup and topped up for rabdi and dryfruits. Another must try that I would recommend.

5. Moog dal barfi

We don’t get that in Pune easily. Made using pure ghee , very close to mohanthal (Gujrati sweet made using chickpeas flour). I liked it a lot.

We were out of home for more than 10 day when we were in Bikaner. By that time I was homefood sick and got over that sickness by having lovely homemade dinner hosted by Khatri and Modi family. Simple ghar ka khana is always soul satisfying. Gatte ki subji was one of the best that I have ever had.

Dal, aloo gobi ki subji and gatte ki subji. There were many sweets which I could not click
