Rajasthan… can’t stop loving this place enough. This time, made a plan to visit Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. So, my journey started on 27th September. Me and my friend Sayma, boarded a train from Delhi, around 11 pm, after office hours, to Jodhpur. It was a journey of around 11 hrs, so we reached at around 12 pm, next day, i.e., 28th.

Day 1

We booked Treebo hotel in city and left for Mehrangarh fort. A majestic fort, with an awesome view of blue city. Such is the grandeur of this fort, you will be totally awestruck.

After Amer fort in Jaipur, Mehrangarh is one of the biggest forts in Rajasthan.

You should also try Zip lining by Flying Fox, which is organized in the premises of Fort. They charge around 2000 Rs, for 6 sets of zip lining, which can be availed on concession of Rs 200, if you are booking online.

Remember to try for sunset slot. The sunset view of Mehrangarh fort, will leave you totally mesmerized by its beauty.

After this, we went for shopping in Ghantaghar market. Bandhej dupattas, suits and sarees are a must buy from Jodhpur. Now since we were feeling quite hungry, we headed to Gypsy Restaurant, which is a famous outlet for its lip smacking Rajasthani food, especially the thali, which comes at around 400 rs.

You can also try Shandar restaurant, which seems to be an old shop, but very much recommended by local people.

On second day, i.e., 29th September, we took an early morning bus to Jaisalmer, which costs around 300-400 Rs per person. It is a journey of around 5 hrs, to land of Sam desert. After reaching Jaisalmer, we took a cab, which charged us around 1500 Rs, for 4 people, to our pre-booked “Desert Spring Resorts" in middle of Sam dunes. This resort is ranked the best place, if you want to enjoy the real flavor of camp life in desert. In package of 4000 rs, you get complementary breakfast and dinner in addition to evening snacks, with Camel Safari to sunset point, cultural show at night, etc.

On whole, this is the best deal, you can get, without worrying about small stuff, all at one place. Just chill, sitting outside your camp in night. I can guarantee, this will be a lifetime experience.

If you can manage, check sunrise with sunset as well.

In morning, i.e, on 30th Sept, we again left for city area, for which the cab driver charged 1500 Rs. In city, we headed to our pre-booked hotel “Mystic Jaisalmer”. This hotel gives an amazing view of Jaisalmer fort. With good food, views and their hospitality, they left us quite impressed. Just don't forget to check out their roof top café.

After having lunch, we headed to Jaisalmer fort. There, we hired a guide for 50 Rs per person. You can do shopping from nearby shops.

After that, we went for boating in Gadisar lake, which is at walking distance from Fort. After around 45 mins of boating, we headed to D’ Desi Aroma restaurant, which is famous for its Rajasthani food. Since it is located at the outskirts of city, either book your private cab or you can ask your auto driver to wait and then take you back to city area.

Next day, on 1st October, we made a plan to visit “Patwo ki Haweli”, which is one of the most famous places in Jaisalmer for its intricate carvings. After that, we did some shopping from nearby areas, and left for our hotel.

On 2nd October, early in the morning, we left for Jodhpur, since journey from Jaisalmer to Delhi is around 18 hrs, we tried to break it down, in 2 parts. After exploring the local market in Jodhpur, we boarded the train from Jodhpur to Delhi in evening. The whole plan can be modified as per the convenience of the person, visiting the place. But all these things are a must visit, in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.

Get ready to be mesmerized by the beauty of Sam-dunes or thrilled by adrenaline rush while Zip-lining near Mehrangarh fort. Be it good food or great views, this place has so much to offer .

Happy travelling :-)
