The 11th CE temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in his Trimurti avtar is the oldest in this complex. Standing in the temple you can feel the old age devotion of seeking blessings of Lord Shiva. A small Nandi temple can be seen and also a shivling.

Remember, reading comics of Chetak and Maharana Pratap Singh. Yes, Chetak was the loyal horse of Maharan Pratap Singh, whom Pratap rode during the Battle of Haldighati, June 21, 1576. Chetak died in this battle and since then has been immortalized in the ballads of Rajasthan. Folklore has it that Chetak's coat had a blue tinge. That is why Rana Pratap is sometime referred as the "Rider of the Blue Horse".

Science and technology was at its peak in the time period of 1710-1740 in Udaipur city. "Sahelion ki bari" , is a park which was built by Rana Sangram Singh on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake. The Garden of Maidens was designed by the king himself for his queen and her 48 maids. Away from the political scene the royal ladies and the maids came to relax in this garden whose source of water is the lake itself and water comes out in the form of rain and fountains gushing out of the ducks designed for this purpose.

Udaipur was an experience which made me relive the history lessons I studied in school decades ago. The white city is a time machine that will take its visitors to an era bygone, and come face to face with India's vast history.
