Bhalukpong is a beautiful town in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. It is known for its scenic beauty, the Sessa Orchid Sanctuary and the Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary. It is also famous for adventure sports such as angling, river rafting and others. The town can be reached by air or train, the closest station being Tezpur (Guwahati). If you can help it, choose a drive because the roads are beautiful and cut through the famous Kaziranga National Park. March is a really good month to visit Bhalukpong as you get to participate in the annual Nyethidow Festival (new year's celebration), which is a riot of colours and people!
