‘Karibu’ means ‘welcome’ in Swahili and it was the first thing I heard as I got off the plane. On landing at Nairobi airport, we headed straight to the Sarova Stanley hotel, where we were booked to stay. Located in the very heart of Nairobi, near its vibrant city centre and other shopping markets, this heritage hotel has been voted the best in Kenya at the World Travel awards, described by the Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars’ of the global travel and tourism industry. It was grand indeed. After checking in, we headed for lunch to its famous outdoor Thorn Tree Café which had functioned as the oldest post office in Kenya many, many years ago.
If you want to see babies, head to central and southern Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (not to be confused with the Ngorongoro Crater floor). -Western CorridorThe Great Migration is in full force during its time in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park and Grumeti Reserve. This area is touted for excellent game viewing opportunities and incredible herd sightings. -Northern Serengeti & Maasai Mara The crossing from northern Serengeti into the Maasai Mara over the Mara River is the most well-known and truly epic stages of the migration.

About Nakuru

DAY 2 - After breakfast we make our way to Nakuru approximately 160 kms from Nairobi. The Lake Nakuru National Park is overflowing with wildlife and not to mention Lake Nakuru itself, the view of which from Babboon is stunning. Tonight we will stay at a beautiful camp site located on a dairy farm on the outskirts of Nakuru Town and depending on what time we arrive we may have the option of a farm visit.
