A Guide for Your Next Getaway : Coorg

We made an instant plan to visit Coorg with our best buddies. We were very excited to see Abbey Falls, Mandalpatti, Irupu Falls and other places in Coorg.

Day 1: Start of the Trip

Distance of Madikeri from Bangalore is around 274 KM. We booked a Tempo Traveller from Bangalore. Started our trip around 1 AM in the night from Bangalore with a group of 9 friends.

Day 2

We reached Dubare elephant camp in the morning. Elephant camp opens at 8.30 AM. We had to wait till that time. You can reach to the elephant camp either by walking or by taking a boat ride. We preferred to take boat ride. You can see elephants taking bath.

Stay in Madikeri

We had booked Adithya Homestay near Omkareshwara in Madikeri. It is a nice accommodation with nice owner. It is located in main Madikeri town. It is a two storey house that can accommodate upto 12 people.

Off-roading from Madikeri to Mandalpatti Peak

We had listened very much about Mandalpatti off-roading. Therefore first thing we wanted to do after reaching Coorg is to go to Mandalpatti. We booked a Jeep for INR 1600 and started our exciting off-road drive. the experience was really awesome. It took around 3 hours for return trip.

Sunset at Raja's Seat

After returning from Mandalpatti we headed towards Raja's seat to see sunset. Raja's seat has garden of flowers and artificial fountains. It is a favorite place to watch the setting sun.

Day 3

Abbey Falls

After getting refreshed in the morning we went to see famous Abbey falls. It is around 8 KM from Madikeri. You can click pics and selfies there. It is not allowed to go inside waterfall. There is coffee and spices plantation that surrounds the waterfall.

Irupu Falls

Irupu falls is around 80 KM from Madikeri. Irupu falls is a major tourist attraction. Unlike Abbey Falls you can take bath in Irupu falls. It is worth visiting Irupu falls. You will enjoy a lot there.

Back to Bangalore

After visiting Irupu Falls we started for Bangalore that is around 274 KM. On the way to Bangalore you can visit Mysore Palace, Vrindavan Garden if time permits.
