Surrounded by verdant green farms at the foothills of Velliangiri Mountains in the Western Ghats, Adiyogi Shiva Statue is the world’s biggest bust statue dedicated to the famous Hindu deity Shiva, which is carved out of 500 tonnes of steel.

Located in the Isha Yoga Complex in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the sculpture stands tall at the height of 112 feet.

The Guinness World Book of Records recognised the statue as the “largest bust sculpture” which is 34.3-metre tall excluding plinth, 45 meters long and 7.62 meters wide. Designed by the founder of Isha Foundation- Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the statue was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 24th of February, 2017.

The sculpture was constructed with the idea to inspire and promote yoga, and the statue is called “Adiyoga” meaning “the first yogi” as Lord Shiva is known to be the originator of yoga.

:--How To Reach Adiyogi Shiva Statue

The statue is located in the Dhyanalinga complex.

If you want to travel in public transport, you can take a state bus from Gandhipuram bus stand, which sends out a bus every 45 minutes to the gates of the complex.

From the Dhyanalinga temple, you can walk to the sculpture which is a 7 min short walk.

However, if you are not willing to walk, there are modified bullock carts and open rickshaw facilities available which can ferry you to Adiyogi.

The Marudhamalai hill temple is located at a towering height of 500 ft in the highland on the Western Ghats.

15 kms away to north-west of Coimbatore city, the temple has an excellent invigorating atmosphere.

Vehicles are allowed to pass through the Marudhamalai temple and the devasthanam has granted three buses from the low slope of the hill to get through the temple on top.

The Marudhamalai temple has its main deity as Lord Muruga and the temple attributes quite delightful facilities to the habit of making their visit a comforting one while offering their prayer to the deity.

The major feature of this hill is that it grows important medicinal herbs, which is used extensively in making ayurvedic medicines.

Only 65 km away from the hustling and bustling city of Coimbatore is the peaceful Monkey Falls.

Enveloped between evergreen forests and rocky cliffs, the alluring waterfall brings together the entire scenery.

Anyone in earshot of the humming Monkey Waterfalls is inevitably drawn to these melodious sounds.

The water swishes across the rocks joyfully and dives into a pool of water as clear as cellophane.

As the water thunders down like a giant waterspout, it forms bubbles of white foam where it merges with the pool.

The spiky shrubs surround the body of water as if they are crowning it and the sweet nectar fragrance of flowers take over the spirits of anyone around them.

Plummeting from a height, the fringes of the Monkey falls crash along the sides of the mountain and give a silver lining to the fall.

Frogs dancing around the gushing water, tiny birds chirping along joyously and numerous monkeys swaying across the trees playfully.

Situated on the Bhavani River near Gobichettipalayam in Tamil Nadu, Kodiveri Dam is a scenic picnic spot and a major tourist attraction in the place.

The dam is not only a tourist spot but it also provides irrigation water for over 25000 hectares of land.

In addition to that, there is also a park constructed at the bottom of the dam that has several attractions, rides and games for the entertainment of the tourists.

The gushing river water from across the dam forms a little waterfall that is a pure visual delight.

The gurgling cascading water is not very heavy and softly falls to the ground.

For the same reason, it is safe to take a dip in the falls or even enjoy swimming here.

The area is also inhabited by coracle rowers who catch and sell fresh fish.
