So, this is in continuation to my 3rd blog on Mussoorie where I trek to George Everest Mussorie
Which is located at 6578ft height and the highest peak in Mussorie.
We started at 5 AM in the morning and the weather is around 8 degree Celsius, me and my friends started to view the early sunrise
On the way we can find George Everest House...
Visit the 18th century house of George Everest, the Surveyor General of India from 1830 to 1843. Located atop the namesake George Everest peak, the house is accessible via a mountain trail located near Mussoorie. At the house, you'll be fascinated with the colonial era architecture that makes the hill-top structure so interesting. The house is located near the Benog Hill, allowing you to trek further and explore the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary. But, not much of it is left for us to see. I would suggest go for the trek as it might take upto 3 hours to finish one way.
Went to the George Everest Base and while on the way we found some snacks shops or you can refill your bottles if you travel in mornings, this is the place for it because you won't find anything along the way or at the top. Yes, there is no Maggi or chai point at the peak as its hard to setup a shop there because of the rough surface. The peak you see in the picture above behind this board, that is where we are heading. 🙃 Looks far, eh!
Now, we are heading to the peak just next to it which was just 100 metres away. The beautiful scenery between these peaks with those Tibetan Peace flags all around you, i have no words for that, look for yourself:
Started trekking towards the top, its really one of the hardest climbs as there is no proper path made for it.
There were two paths actually, one you could see where everyone was going from and that was straight up the hill but for the other one you have to take a left from a point in between. There is this rock along the way and at the top of it, there are these Tibetan flags hanging around, you'll know when you see it. So, you need to climb that and from up there you'll see a narrow path going further left.
At an elevation of 2,005 m (6,578 ft), it took me around 2.5 hours to cover the 3 km trek. Now, I will tell you why it was the best trek for me so far. I didn't drink a single drop of water from the beginning of the trek until i reached back. I've been to many other Himalayan treks and here I wanted to test myself if I could survive this and I did. Of course, there are some hacks to it.
