Best Time to Travel: August - November

Getting There :

1- Reach Guwahati by train, bus, flights as per your own budget and convenience. I prefer train to be economical.

2- Reach ISBT Bus stand in Guwahati and take a shared cab to Shillong( charges varies to 250-400, better you negotiate)

Day 2

Day 2:

You can spend the entire day in local sight seeings, getting into the depth of local heritage. Visit the following spots:

1- Butterfly Museum

2-Lady Hydari Park

3-Air Force Museum

4-All Saints Church

5- Cathedral of Mary Help

Take your time to the places, breathe air and end your day roaming around police bazaar.

Day 3

Day 3 :

Take a cab from police bazaar and head to towards Mawlynnong- The cleanest village in India. Cab will charge between (1200-2000) depending on seasonality. Experience the fresh air and dedication of local people to keep their surrounding clean. Make sure you take some motivation back with you. Remember : Cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Ask the cab driver to drop you to Cherrapunjee, the destination for your next day and the most thrilling in your entire tour.

Day 4

Day 4:

Recommendations for Stay : Cafe Cherrapunjee for budget stay( 1500-2500), Polo Orchid Resort for Luxurious Stay( I bet you won't get a better view of nature in any other property in India, the place is just mesmerizing)

Swift start your first day and try to visit the following places:

1- Ka Khoh Ramhah

2- Dawki Lake : Crystal clear lake for river rafting and nature experience.

If left with time there are many rainfalls and caves, try to visit them too, but my recommendation will be spend quality time at the above locations.

Day 5

Day 5 :

The most adventurous day of your trip. Head towards Double Decker Bridge. The beauty of nature, 2 root bridges one above another, conserved by locals for years. The journey to the bridge is hell of a ride, you step down 4000 stairs down in the hills(the only way back is climbing them back). Be prepared and stack your bagpack with plenty of food.

Try to visit Rainbow Falls, a 2 km trek after double decker bridge, the mesmerizing place where you can experience a rainbow coming out of rainfall.

It will take entire day to visit both of them, after coming up try to spend some time to watch seven sisters falls.

Next day head back to Guwahati, try to book a cab a day ago before departure.

Check out my blog on Cherrapunjee for in depth about the location.

Day 1

Day 1:

Stay Recommendation :Reach Shillong, check in into some hotel. My recommendation would be The Eee Cee Hotel for budget stay and Royal Heritage Tripura Castle for luxurious stay.

Since you will reach by afternoon, try to cover Don Bosco Meseum, Ward's Lake and Shillong View Point. Roam around the Police Bazaar in the evening.
