Day 1

Day 1 :

The started in Shillong, I took a shared cab from police bazaar( you just need to go out and there will be many cab drivers) and reached Cherrapunjee in around 2 hours. I was charged 400, as I traveled with 2 other people in 4 seater Maruti car.

I checked into the hotel and decided to spend the day just roaming around and have a nice view of hills. The view was serene and I spent most of the time just sitting on the road side and staring on the hills and the nature around.

I walked down to Polo Orchid Resort to meet some people and when I returned it was almost dark and I decided to walk to where I was staying( 4 km walk among st the hills). The walk was pretty horror, trust me. It got way too cold by the time I reached my hotel.

So, I decided to have dinner and take a long nap before my power packed next day trekking to Rainbow Falls and Double Decker Root Bridge.

Day 2 :

I started my trekking and I found few locals along my path through the hills and then I realized it's Republic Day and a national holiday.

I walked down around 4000 stairs and reached Double Decker Root Bridge. People were chilling around and for most of them it was the end of their trek, but full of enthusiasm I decided to go ahead to see the pristine rainbow fall. Trust me it was hell of a ride for me as I was travelling alone.

The moment I reached, I was goosebumps to see the beauty around.A small lake with a crystal clear water and a rainfall through which a rainbow passed by( as per locals its a rare sight to observe the rainbow).

I was pretty excited and climbed up the big rock and jumped into the rainbow which led me to the freezing water.

I sat around for few hours and started my way back to top( the toughest part). Somehow I made it to the top in few hours and it was evening by the time and my cab driver picked me up and dropped to the hotel.

This place is very much underrated but I would recommend to visit all the places of attraction. Best place to stay is Polo Orchid Resort, if you want a budget stay you should opt for Cafe Cherrapunjee.
