Day 1
All in a day's work or play I must say! I accomplished the feat of touring this beautiful hill station in just one day. Although i would not suggest that. It was due to time constraints or else I would love to enjoy the cool weather here for atleast a few days.
It's real name is Udhagamandalam or Udhgai. Earlier it was known as Ooctamund, from which it's popular name Ooty is derived from. It is undoubtedly the Queen of all the hill stations. Cool climate, scenic beauty, tea gardens, the nilgiri mountains, a lake, it's natural beauty witnessed in many movies. It's air is filled with the whiff of the eucalyptus trees.
Every inch of this hill station is beautiful. But there are many tourist spots that you can visit. There is a beautiful lake where you can enjoy boating and flex those muscles. Then a must visit are the Ooty botanical garden and rose gardens where you will see flowers, plants and trees which you never knew existed. It's abundant with natural beauty is an understatement.
Then our next destination was a thrilling bike ride to dodabetta peak which is 8,240m above sea level making it the highest peak in South India. Here you can literally walk in the clouds. And while doing that you can munch on the locally grown produce such as carrots, radish etc.
And finally before leaving don't forget to enjoy the nilgiri toy train ride and do 'chhaiya chhaiya' on top of it. This is where the popular song was shot. Ooty got me mesmerized, already planning my next trip there, Are you???
