Reforest and travel in Pondicherry

If you want to do the touristy Auroville, do not read any further. This trip is for those who want to experience Auroville and what it stands for.

I took the Pondicherry Express from Mumbai - must try the dosas and idlis on the train. I stayed at Sadhana Forest where an Israeli couple is reforesting a barren land. You can work and stay as a volunteer there and it's a lovely little place although tucked away really deep inside since it is a forest!

In my free time I visited the Auroville Centre, walked around the wet winding roads of Auroville peeking into and trying out lemon tarts and quiches at the local bakeries which are plenty! I picked up some truly aurovillian delights such as the 12 elements all natural marmalade. Try the vegan icecream at Rosa's and the brownies at Auroville Bakery. There are plenty of local homestays (you have to ask around) which I would recommend any day! There are also leather shops if you want to make yourself a leather bag or shoes or a wallet.

One the best quiche and brownie I've had!
