On my second trip to the island nation, I decided to take a break from sultry Colombo and humid Bentota. Hence we took a road trip to the hill country - Nuwara Eliya. A small town set right in the heart of tea plantations, Nuwara Eliya has the most beautiful weather you could dream of in Sri Lanka. There is something very English about this town which I guess has been inherited and preserved from the colonial days. It's a must visit for all tea lovers as you'll get to experience tea picking and processing first hand. If you do visit, you must experience the British style high tea at Heritance Tea Factory or any of the other posh hotels in Nuwara Eliya. Don't expect too much fun and adventure from this lazy town, just relax and enjoy the calm away from the hustle - bustle of city life. Spare a few days from your itinerary to visit Nuwara Eliya - the hill country of Sri Lanka.
