A tiny land-locked self-proclaimed country between Ukraine and Moldova called Transnistria. Never heard of it? It's Ok. Technically, it doesn't exist.

The only way into this country is through Moldova or Ukraine. It was 2 hours drive by Marshrutka (mini van) from Chisinau (capital of Moldova) to Tiraspol (capital of Transnistria). At the Transnistria border, you’ll get a free 10 hr transit visa.

Picture from the inside of the Marshrutka which is a 2o seat mini van - It cost 65 MDL/ 270 INR, one way from Chisinau to Tiraspol

The border guards will scan your passport and give you a migration card (one in the picture). This piece of paper has your details and the exact time your visa expires.

Migration card received at the border that allows stay into Transnistria territory for 10 hours

Transnistria is often referred as a county of soviet relics. There are plenty of things to see - Bender fortress, Parliament building, Monument of Suvorov, Noul Neamt Monastery, Kotovsky Museum.

Bender Fortress - A well-preserved 16th-c. Ottoman fortress with walkable ramparts. Entre free was 160 MDL / approx. 650 INR
