Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the mountain range of Tunganath in Rudraprayag district. Located at an altitude of 3,680 m (12,073 ft), and just below the peak of Chandrashila , Tungnath temple is the highest Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is believed to be 1000 years old and is the third (Tritiya Kedar) in the pecking order of the Panch Kedars.

Over night journey from delhi to rishikesh. We were reached rishikesh 6 am in the morning. Without sleep in the night we continued our journey.

Day 1

We Got bus from rishikesh to rudraprayag in the morning 7 am which was late start to reach chopta. Around 12:30 pm we reached rudraprayag and sleep take over us...we found a kaam chaalu room (worst) near by the alaknanda river. After some rest search out for shared taxi and bus for chopta in the rudraprayag market. But local people told us there is no direct bus or taxi for chopta you have to take taxi to ukhimath.

Day 2

A fresh start of our journey we took shared taxi (mahindra max) from rudraprayag in the morning 6 am for ukhimath. But driver waiting for other co passenger we already 7 people in taxi but he wants to wait for 3 other passenger.. after a half hour wait taxi get full by passenger. We reached ukhimath 8:15 am and paid 300 rs (for 2) for ride. After reaching there a new quest waiting for us..there is no bus for chopta the only bus which is go chopta was gone in 7 am. After 2 hr we got taxi but he going to half way to chopta so we changed our plan and we decided to go deoria taal. After leaving taxi we trek almost 2.5 km from the main road to sari village. We got room basic room in 500 rs. We started our trek after lunch it was 3 km long and moderate trek. Deoratal is very nice place for camping and see view of chaukhambha peak (in April last u can't see because of smoke) if your lucky u can see the chaukhambha.

Day 3

After spent our night in sari village we started our journey in the early morning. luckily we got tempo traveller who was also going chopta. We reached chopta by 7:30 am and find room so fast.. start our trekking from chopta at 9 am after paying 300rs (fee 2 people) to Forest department. It was cloudy and cold day we were enjoying the every moment of trekking. Till Tunganath temple (highest temple of shiva) trek is moderate but heading to chandrashila last 1.5 km was steep. On the way of Tunganath we faced light snow fall and in chandrashila low oxygen. We spent our whole day in tunganath and chandrashila. In 4 pm we started walking to going back we reached chopta in 1hr.

Day 4

There is no bus and shared taxi to back to rudraprayag or haridwar. The only bus is come chopta in the afternoon 1 pm. Luckily we found taxi...after a long wait... We reached srinagar in evening and stay there.

Took bus for rishikesh and then after delhi in the same.. by the late evening we reached delhi.
