Located on the southern coast of China, Macao's free spirit (both politically and metaphorically) has always attracted tourists from around the world. While the days here are all about exploring its mixed heritage, culture, food and nature, the nights are all about glitz and glamour. Macao is a box full of surprises, that is waiting to be unveiled.

Here is a list of #20ThingsILoveAbout Macao that every traveller should experience when they are in Macao.

Nightlife:

Macao is also called 'Vegas of the East' however, it has been rightly argued that Las Vegas should be called 'Macao of the West'. This is because, technically, Macao is bigger than Vegas in both area and gambling revenue. When in Macao, step out and try your luck. Maybe you can get a chance to stay in the world's most luxurious hotels.

History:

Macao has a mixed bag of culture because of its history. Both Chinese and Portuguese have significantly influenced the region's history.

Highest Commercial Bungee Jump:

Dive right into the sky from Macao Tower and enjoy the adrenaline rush.

The House of Dancing Water Show:

Directed by Franco Dragone, this show is the world's largest water show.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites:

You must visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Macao; St. Paul's Church, Largo do Senado (Senate Square) and Macao Historic Centre.

Macao is home to several stunning museums. Some of the best ones are Macau Museum, Macau Museum of Art and Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt.

Egg Tarts:

Egg tarts of Macao is another example of the cultural blend. The famous egg tarts are a must-have, and the word is it is a mix of English and Portuguese egg custard tart. Lord Stow’s Bakery is the right place for these tarts.

Celebrations at Chinese Temples and Churches:

Temples like A-Ma Temple are a must-visit. Built-in 1488, Macao got its name from A-Ma temple. Celebrations in Chinese temples are unlike any other celebration I have seen.

Ká Hó Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in the Coloane Village is a well-preserved symbol of Portugal history in Macao.

Pandas:

Pandas are my spirit animals and I would not miss a chance to see them. Macao Giant Panda Pavilion is exactly where you can find them.

The Golden Reel Ferris Wheel Ride:

Macao has its unique Ferris wheel, and that too in a figure of eight. Hop on to any of the cabins to get the stunning view.

The place has its own Effiel Tower also. Though it is half in size of the real one, it gives the same feels.

There are 19 Michelin Star Restaurant in Macao and none in India.

The bridges of Macau are well lit and looks beautiful after sunset. Especially, the Macau- Taipa Bridge.

Gondola Ride:

The Venetian Macao also offers Gondola ride with musicians, just like the ones in Venice. The ride will transfer you to Venice in seconds.

Free Casino Shuttle Buses:

Where on Earth can you use public transport for free? Macao! Every casino in Macao has its shuttle buses connects ferry ports, border gates and other casinos.

Greenery:

Macao has many parks and gardens for both its residents and tourists.

Shopping:

Be it high-end brands or local products, Macao has something for every shopper. There are several flea markets Sunday Taipa flea market and Red market that are fun to visit.

There is so much more in Macao than just this listicle; There are special themed spas for travellers who wish to relax and enjoy their stay, there are amusement parks for children and the ferry rides on old boats are also one of kind experience.

Geographically, Macao is a tiny spot on the world map, but when you experience Macao it feels like you have travelled the world.
