What do you think about suddenly flying out in air from the blue waters of the sea? Remember Hrithik Roshan springing out of the waters in the movie Bang Bang in something that looked like a jetpack. Well, that is Flyboarding, the new adventure sport that is catching the fancy of all the adventure buffs.
Flyboarding was introduced in 2102 by a French water-craft rider Franky Zapata. And since then, this new water sport has been gaining popularity among adrenaline junkies.
How does the Flyboard work?
The Flyboarding kit has two main components. First is the main flyboard component. The flyboard has its own buoyancy and so remains floating on the water that allows the rider to relax safely in the water in between flights as well as before and after take-offs. The second component is the Personal Water Craft (PWC) that is normally a jet ski. The flyboard is connected by a hose to the jet propulsion system of the PWC. This system uses huge force, pushes water through the hose to help propel the Flyboarder forward and then up. The level of thrust used in the flyboard is typically controlled by using the throttle of the personal water craft (PWC) i.e. the jet ski, in this instance. The PWC usually has a certain degree of flexibility. It allows the rider to have multiple degrees of freedom and also allows the rider to go underwater if they want to.
How to balance yourself in Flyboard?
Riding a flyboard is quite similar to riding a hoverboard. The hoverboard skims the surface of the water while the flyboard rides uo in the air! You can fly at a maximum height of 18 m with a flyboard. Once you are balanced on the board, you must lie flat on your stomach in the water, the jet engine will be turned on that will exert a force beneath your feet and will propel you through the water horizontally. After getting used to this sensation that is surely going to blow your mind, the flyboard operator (he also controls the speed of the board) will gradually increase the level of thrust. Once you are ready, just bend your legs near your waist which will help you lift up out of the water into the air. And then, you are ready to fly!
Just remember that while plunging towards the water, keep it in mind to point your feet away from the PWC so that you don’t collide with it. Also try not to look down when you are balancing yourself in the air. And if by any chance, you fall, then try to remain away from the Personal Water Craft (PWC). Try to point your feet towards the PWC so that you are pushed away from it and not towards it.
