A 110-crore hotel in Heilongjiang, China is advertising itself as the first polar bear hotel in the world. The Polar Bear Hotel is a part of the Harbin Polarland theme park, where guests can view captive polar bears from their rooms. The hotel is using Arctic polar bears as their unique selling point and offering their captivity a source of entertainment for those choosing to stay in the hotel.

Harbin Polarland's official WeChat account glorified this hotel saying, "Whether you're eating, playing or sleeping, polar bears will keep you company". Videos and photographs are surfacing online where polar bears, a vulnerable species, roam in a space surrounded by fake rocks, icicles and a white painted floor.

PETA Condemns the Idea

Animal rights activists have criticised this bizarre hotel in China which glorifies the captivity of arctic polar bears. PETA is urging visitors who are thinking about checking-into the hotel to reconsider.

"PETA urges patrons to stay away from this hotel and any other establishment that profits from animals' misery. Polar bears belong in the Arctic, not in zoos or glass boxes in aquariums – and certainly not in hotels," said Jason Baker, Senior Vice President of PETA.

The Polar bears are clearly in a miserable state. We can't emphasise enough how wrong all of it is. What are your thoughts on the same? Let us know in the comments section below.
