The day is pretty normal, one full sleeve t-shirt will do. The nights are cold. Keep one thick jacket just in case. If you're venturing out at night, better to have a woollen cap and thick jacket, a warm pair of pants since it gets quite windy and that makes it feel even more chilly!
Day will be pretty normal and windy,Nights are really cold, depends on the place where you would stay, if you are planning for camp near chandratal then it is better to have wollen cap and jackets(thermals would be best choice) to keep yourself warm, also recommend you to drink more water to keep your body hydrated.
It's always better to have a guide on treks as they can guide you on the nitty gritty of the place and many times you might need to bargain with them. Best will be to ask around for the market price of a guide.
You can book tickets upto Cochin or to Trivandrum. Cochin is advisable at most of the times and book upto Trivandrum only if the first destination is Kanyakumari or Kovalam. For Wayanad you may book upto Calicut • If you are booking bus, book upto Ernakulam as Cochin is also known as Ernakulam. For train ERN or ERS is the code for Ernakulam and for flight COK. Note cochin airport is 20km away from city • Try to reach cochin as early as possible to cover maximum tourist spots • Before booking return trip, finalize the Itinerary as you can have the option of return from Trivandrum if last destination is Kovalam or Kanyakumari and Calicut if last destination is Wayanad • A small understanding of major tourist places would help you to decide on this South Kerala or Central Kerala • Cochin – Most of the time you land here, do cochin sightseeing on same day or you can do this on last day • Munnar – Munnar is a hill station, 135km from cochin • Thekkady – Periyar wild life sanctuary is at Thekkady. Monsoon starts in Kerala by June and ends with July. Aug will be a good time for Kerala trip even if you encounter some drizzle don't worry after all it's what make Kerala scenic.
I would request you to visit Kerala during August because it's the after-monsoons that makes the land more green and I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy because Kerala indeed is very beautiful.
