If you want to enjoy a weekend ride or a small trip from Mumbai to the depth of Nature & see a creation made by the local people of the villages of Dahanu then the Aswali Dam situated at Dahanu Road about 80-90 km from Mumbai is a place to visit.
You can either come as a Solo rider, Biker's gang, With Friends or with Family.
The time I visited the place was early morning 7 AM so that I could witness the Sunrise from the mountains & stare at the sun standing alone at the top of the Dam. The ride to Aswali dam is pretty rough as there are no firm roads to the place & you have to cross small village road filled with stones & pebbles. The Map also goes out of network as the place is quiet remote but you can trust the local people for directions. The trip is exciting as you pass through different scenes like Mountains, Beaches, Villages & finally arrive to the Dam.

There is no entry fees to the dam so many local people from the place specially college students do visit the place quiet often. The Dam is crowded specially on Sunday's so if you want to enjoy a quiet time try coming to this place in the early morning or during weekday's time.

Affordable places with accommodation at around Rs. 2k to 5k with special villa also available here if you are planning to come with family then I would suggest coming on the weekend staying at Dahanu & starting early morning to Aswali dam is a good idea in the evening you can enjoy a variety of Beaches around Dahanu.
Note: No Public transport available to the Dam so take your own vehicle
