As a continuation to my previous article, today we are seeing another place in Edinburgh which is worth a visit
'Camera Obscura' meaning 'Camera obscura, ancestor of the photographic camera. The Latin name means “dark chamber,” and the earliest versions, dating to antiquity, consisted of small darkened rooms with light admitted through a single tiny hole'
We can experience lot of optical illusions in Camera Obscura, its hard to capture all that we see inside this place through our mobiles, instead we need to capture them through our eyes and store them in our memory
Few of the glimpses which we could treasure then, are here for everyone's reference now in this article
Now comes, few of pics we took inside the camera obscura from our mobile camera or point to point shoot camera
We have more light effects and illusions within this place, that we could not capture well to present here with or basic camera, if we have better photography skills with professional camera, we can get better and nice pics here
Best part of this attraction I feel is the "color shadows". At least i had not heard of color shadows until I visited this place. We can notice 3 color shadows of the same object, isn't is amazing !
Scroll below to know the science behind his magic !
Science behind the phenomenon:
We can also experience 360 degree view of Edinburgh from this place through pre installed telescope at the top of tower in Camera Obscura. Edinburgh street view from the top of camera obscura is as below
Transportation:
This place is placed at prime location of Edinburgh i.e. Royal mail and Princess street, so we can easily reach this place by Lothian Buses. As mentioned in my previous article, bus network is very well designed and easy to commute in Edinburgh
Food:
As this place is near to Princess street, we have wide variety of options to eat (both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians) at all price ranges i.e. from Mc Donald, Subway to 3-5 star hotels. Based on our hunger and affordability, we can chose the place for our meal
Tickets:
We can book the tickets for this attraction here. Cost now is around 16 ponds for adults and 12 pounds for children and 14 pounds for Senior citizens
Note: When we visit this place, do not miss to visit the 'Pound Land', where we can get everything present there for 1 pound each (1£). We have many such stores in Edinburgh, but one such store is in princess street so give it a try and I feel everyone will love it
Please feel free to comment below if you have been to any other places, near to princess street which needs a special mention
