MALANA THE OLDEST DEMOCRACY

As you all have heard about Malana cream- the best hash (charas) in the world. Malana is a small village in the Parvati valley of Himachal Pradesh. There are many interesting facts about this village: 1)They consider themselves superior to rest of world   2) They don't allow any outsiders of the village to touch them   3) It is world oldest democratic village  4)They believe that they are descendants of  Alexander the Great's soldiers.

HOW TO REACH :

Take a bus from Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar. From Bhuntar take another bus to Zari. From Zari you can take a bus ( only one bus at 4 PM) otherwise you have to book a cab to Malana gate. From Malana gate, it is a 2km hike to reach the village.

WHERE TO STAY :

From Malana gate there are two options you can go to the village after entering the gate, hike for about 30 minutes. Then stay at a village in homestays rooms or camps. Another option is don't enter the gate and go straight on the road towards Magic valley where you can stay in camps. Enjoy your night there and visit the Malana village the next day and come back the same day.

WHAT TO DO :

1)Always buy hash from the locals in the village. It will be less costly and original stuff. Check it by smelling and breaking (good stuff if same colour inside even after breaking ).

2)Camping and bonfire.

3)You can trek to Naggar via Chandrakhani pass from Malana. From Naggar, you can go to Manali.
