Hubli, officially known as Hubbali is probably not an ideal tourist spot. It is located at a distance of 4 and a half hours from Gokarna and was a chosen halt on our way to Hampi. We left at 7:30 AM from Gokarna. The road to Hubli is beautiful surrounded by scenic landscapes. Ensure you have packed enough snacks for your road trip as there are very few shops from where you could buy snacks. To add to our plight, there was very low mobile network.

We stayed at the plush President Hotel, Hubli right opposite the Unakal lake. It cost us about INR 2500 a night and the hotel adhered to all the COVID 19 protocols. As we were too tired to visit all the tourist spots, we narrowed down our visit to only 1 spot which is the Chandramouleshwar temple. It is at a distance of 10 minutes from the hotel. The temple is located in a very crowded area but the locals are friendly and provide you with the necessary navigation. There is no parking spot near the temple. You will need to find an abandoned spot about 1 km away from the temple.

It is a 900 year old temple which is a victim to urbanization and lack of apathy towards heritage. The tales suggest that the temple was built overnight by sculptors and artisans. The temple is made of a mixture of red and green stones and it a remarkable attraction to people interested in art.

Quick tip: Ensure you carry enough change at the temples. Try to use a public transport as there is no parking spot for the vehicle
