Do you know the highest gateway in the world is in India?
When Akbar won over Gujrat, he built an entranceway to the Fatehpur Sikri to commemorate his victory. He made sure the gateway, built with red sandstone and carved with black and white marbles, matched the grandness of his history. He named it Buland Darwaza, the door of Victory. The 15 storeyed tall arch is the highest gateway built till today in the world. The structure is inscribed with verses from Quran and Persian philosophical quotes. In Akbar's time, it was used by the commoners to enter the capital, Fatehpur Sikri.
