Day 1

Fatehpur Sikri (known as Ghost town) is located at 240Km far from Delhi and take 4-5 hours.  It is  35 km from Agra so if you are planning to visit Taj Mahal then make sure you are also visiting this Akbar's Place.

In 1569, Akbar had visited here to meet Saint Salim Chisthi. Salim Chisthi correctly foretold that Akbar's wish for an heir would be gratified with the birth of a son. Akbar named his child ' Salim' and moved to Sikri. He made it his capital. He built a mosque with a large beautiful southern gate to enter the mosque ( known as Buland Darwaza). He also built three palaces for his wives: one Hindu, one Muslim and one Christian. But this capital was abandoned due to an inadequate supply of water in Fatehpur Sikri. This town was designated a UNESCO heritage site in 1986.
