Why do people go on solo trips? As a teenager, I wondered, often being judgmental and tagging people as boring! But it's only when you step into their shoes that you realize why they act in a way that appears weird to the world. It's only when almost every relationship turns transactional, the only place to seek unconditionality is within. That's what urged me to go on a solo trip to Maheshwar.I had been on several solo trips, but things turned for good when I took my first solo bike trip to Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh in Feb 2022 -an 11-hour journey from Mumbai memories for a lifetime.
Road trips, particularly bike trips, are not for the fast and the furious. They're for the ones who enjoy every inch of the road, for the pictures and soaking sun, totally out of their comfort zone. If you enjoy winds on your face, warmth soaked from the sun, and a bit of tan, then bike riding is something you will enjoy. I enjoyed the food at the and I wasn't disappointed, the taste was good and so was the quantity and the hygiene. There is only one thing I regret about this road trip, I wish I had done this in October or November just after the monsoons. The route to Maheshwar had been a lot more scenic with less humidity, certainly, that's what the bikers look for! The quality of the road is great, post-Nashik it is at its best, open roads and blue sky will make your trip worth a beautiful memory.
The whole purpose of visiting Maheshwar was to see the sunrise at Narmada Ghat, Queen Ahilyabai Fort, being an early morning person this was something worth it. The calmness of the morning and the depth of one's thoughts were in sync, you couldn't have asked for anything better. As you start adulting you consume your own company, you don't want to be a part of a gossip, speak less and introspect more and that's what the solo trip is all about!
The beauty of the temples within the Queen Ahilyabai Fort is mesmerizing. It signifies the Maratha legacy and are interested in the temple architecture.
Fort is a testament to the devotion and architectural patronage of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar. She was known for her contribution to the reconstruction and restoration of Hindu temples across India, and the Maheshwar fort complex, which houses the Ahilyabai Temple, served as the center of her realm and devotional activities.
During my two-day trip to Maheshwar, the whole idea was to ponder near Maheshwar when I was reminded to visit Omkareshwar by a hotel owner, trust me this was nowhere on my list. But as they what destined to happen, it will happen! Just 65 km from Maheshwar and passed a beautiful scenic road of the state highway MP SH 38, to my surprise the route was lush green with fields on both sides of the road, tall trees covering you and providing you the shade.
Omkareshwar Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga, near Khandwa city in the Khandwa district. For more details about the temple check the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omkareshwar_Temple. The 130 km journey to and fro was a great experience and full of blessings.
Wait!! I just forgot to tell you about the hotels, there are many quality hotels in Maheshwar, but you can choose the best option from booking.com, you can the images of the hotels including the parking space and their respective ratings.
Thanks a ton, until next time with a travel story!
