Known as Bengalโ€™s Valley of Flowers, it is situated on the bank of Cossai (Kangshabati) river which later merges in the Bay of Bengal. As much as the name is attractive, the beauty of the surroundings is more than your assumptions. Along the rivers Khirai and Kangsabati the magnificent varieties of flowers are cultivated which look like multi-colours carpet โ€“ a combination of orange, yellow and green and so on.

Flower cultivation is the most significant economic activity in this region for peopleโ€™s livelihood. According to the farmers, these flowers are exported not only in West Bengal but also to all the major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Bangalore, etc of India. But most of the flowers are exported daily to the Kolkata megacity by railway transport. There are numbers of flowers market surrounding this area as the farmersโ€™ sells their flowers everyday early morning.

How to Reach?

The Valley of Flower is well connected by roads and railways. The farmland is located in East Midnapore district between Khirai station and Panskura station. It is easily accessible by local trains from Kolkata at regular interval. It takes around two hours from Howrah to reach the destination. From Khirai station it takes 30 min approx of a walk along the narrow lane beside the railway track.
