The 'buldak spicy hot ramen noodles' is just an example of how spicy and lip smacking Korean food can be. K-pop and K-dramas have stolen millions of hearts around the world with their unique traditions and modernity.

Although, Korean food takes a huge chunk of this popularity too. The list is endless of Korean food, to name a few the delicious kimchi fried rice, hot pot, noodles and soju are just the beginning of the food journey. If you are looking to try Korean food, this article has a list of eight best Korean restaurants in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, suggested by Korean expats who live in India.

We spoke to Korean expats in India about their favourite Korean restaurants in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru

Delhi

1. Gung

Gung seems to be a crowd favourite amongst every Korean in Delhi.“If you ask me what is my one favourite dish there, I won’t be able to answer because the answer is everything on their menu. Their owner is Korean too and he’s really been able to get the flavours of our country to India.Chef Vadim Shin, brand chef, Yazu

“It is a little expensive for a student, but the food is so good that it’s the one indulgence I allow myself. The taste and flavours are authentic Korean flavours and their kimchijjigae just reminds me of home. The vibes and the interiors are great!” Dongkyu Lee, student.

Average Cost: ₹3,500 for two people (approx.)

Location: D-1/B, near Aashirwad Complex, Green Park

2. Seoul

“Even though it’s only been just 10 months since I have been in Delhi, I love going out and Seoul Restaurant is another place I frequently visit when I miss Korean food. Their ra myeon and bibimbap is my usual go-to order. Dongkyu Lee, student.

Average Cost: ₹1,300 for two people (approx.)

Location: 3rd Floor, Ansal Plaza Mall, C Block, Near Siri Fort, Khel Gaon Marg

3. Kori

“There are plenty of fine-dining places but they all are expensive and out of my student budget! Kori is much more budget-friendly and the taste of their food is good too. I find myself getting a meal from there often. Their kimbap options and kimchi fried rice are yum. Dongkyu Lee, student.

Average Cost: ₹1,500 for two people (approx.)

Location: R -62/1, Humayunpur, Safdarjung Enclave

Mumbai

4. Hengbok Restaurant

“There are some restaurants that surprise you but there are some that remain consistent with their food, flavour and dishes. Hengbok is one of them. They have recently shut their dining-in option temporarily for repairs, so you can only order in. Their doenjang jjigae, a soybean paste stew served with a side of rice, is my go-to order. I also like their tteokbokki, which is this hot and spicy rice cake because the flavours just hit the right spot. You can order pretty much anything on their menu because the food is good.” Chef Vadim Shin, brand chef, Yazu.

Average Cost: ₹2,700 for two people (approx.)

Location: Suburbia Mall, 6th floor, Linking Rd, above Shoppers stop, Bandra West, Order from Zomato, Swiggy or call 02262215588

5. Origami

Origami is much loved by everyone who likes Korean food. The food is delicious and the flavours mirror authentic Korean flavours. The BBQ options are super fun and my personal bias is towards their soups, especially the kimchi jjigae. Their Korean ramyun noodles are also great," Chef Vadim Shin, brand chef, Yazu.

Average Cost: ₹1,000 for two people (approx.)

Location: Standard Chartered, Bandra Kurla Complex, Unit GO- 1B BKC, Parinee Crescenzo, Ground Floor, near Gate No. 3, Bandra East.

6. Yazu

"We also serve Korean food at Yazu. Since my roots are Korean, I try to bring as much authenticity to the Korean dishes on our menu. My favourite is what we call morning glory which is water spinach tossed with soy garlic sauce and sesame. My Kimchi dishes are another must try and they come in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options such as the Dubu Kimchi in tofu or meat of choice. Chef Vadim Shin, brand chef, Yazu.

Average Cost: ₹2,000 for two people (approx.)

Location: 2, One Lodha Place, Tulsi Pipe Rd, opp. Lodha Supremus, Upper Worli, Parel

Bengaluru

7. Arirang

“Their interiors are so great that you won’t feel like you’re in Bengaluru; Arirang is like a world in itself. I like their stews, in particular, doenjang-jjigae which is a soya bean paste stew, and their bibimbap which is rice and vegetables with great sauces and flavours. Chef Vadim Shin, brand chef, Yazu

Average Cost: ₹1,700 for two people (approx.)

Location: 13 N.K Enclave Building, 4th Cross, 13, Kammanahalli Main Rd, opposite Himalaya Store, Chinnappa Layout, Kammanahalli.

8. Soo Ra Sang

Soo Ra Sang is my personal favourite. It’s owned by a Korean lady and the place is humble but looks just like a little restaurant in Korea. Unlike other places, there are no chairs so you have to sit on the floor and it feels like you’re at someone’s home rather than a restaurant. Soo Ra Sang is a little bit of home away from home, so I always visit it if I am in Bengaluru. My favourites there are doo boo kimchi, bulgogi, and kimbab which is a seaweed roll.” Chef Vadim Shin, brand chef, Yazu

Average Cost: ₹1,800 for two people (approx.)

Location: Hotel olive, 332, Paramahansa Yogananda Rd, Indira Nagar II Stage, Hoysala Nagar, Indiranagar. Ph: 08041303435
