Italy is one of the country which offers all the experiences, so to get another experience we headed towards Florence, the capital of Tuscany region. Tuscany is known for its landscapes, history and culture.

In the morning we started for Florence from Venice Mestre in flixbus at 6:30 AM. The road trip from Venice to Florence is beautiful with landscapes all around. We stopped at Bologna for breakfast and then continued for Florence.

We reached Florence at 10:40 AM. After reaching Florence, we kept our luggage at Florence Main Station, which cost us 6 euros. Florence is a walkable city, so we decided to explore the city on foot.

Places to visit in Florence -

1. Piazzale Michelangiola

It is situated on a hill and is the only place that gives you a 360-degree panorama view of the city. You can walk here, climbing from the riverbank through the gardens, or take bus 12 or 13. While you're here, continue up to the church of San Miniato al Monte or stay on the bus to the church and walk back down.

2. Giardino Boboli

It is a historical park of Tuscany. It is a real open-air museum with statues of various styles and periods, distributed throughout the garden. It also has large fountains and caves. The entry fees for the garden is 10 Euros.

3. Palazzo Pitti

It is mainly Renaissance, palace in Florence, Italy. It is the largest museum complex in Florence. It gives you the flavour of Tuscany.

4. Ponte Vecchio

It is a medieval stone closed arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy. It is well-known for its shops built along with it.

5. Gallerie degli Uffizi

It is a notable art museum which is best known in the world and holds a collection of priceless works, particularly from the period of the Italian Renaissance.

6. Santa Croce

It is situated on the Piazza di Santa Croce, about 800 meters south-east of the Duomo.

7. Palazzo Vecchio

It is the town hall of Florence.

8. Logia dei Lanzi

The Loggia dei Lanzi is a building on a corner of the Piazza Della Signoria in Florence adjoining the Uffizi Gallery. It consists of wide arches open to the street.

9. Piazza dela Signoria

Piazza Della Signoria is an L-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. It has been a centre of power in Florence.

10. Campanile di Giotto

It is a free-standing campanile that is part of the complex of buildings that make up Florence Cathedral.

11. Battistero

This octagonal building is one of the oldest buildings in the city. It has the status of a minor basilica.

12. Florence Cathedral

It is formally known as Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. The cathedral complex, in Piazza del Duomo, includes the Baptistery and Giotto's Campanile. These three buildings are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Note: It is better to take the skip the line ticket for Florence cathedral complex in advance and also expect a long line at the entrance as it is the main attraction in Florence.

Some other places to visit are Cappelle Medicee and Galleria dell Accademia.

After exploring Florence, it was time to start for Pisa. We collected our luggage from the station and took our train to Pisa at 6:00 PM. The best time to visit Pisa is in the evening when there are very few tourists.

We reached Pisa around 7:20 PM and decided to keep the luggage at Pisa station and roam around the city as in night we have to start for Rome.

In Pisa also we did not took any day pass as every place is nearby from the station.

Places to visit in Pisa -

1. Leaning tower of Pisa

Every traveller must have heard of Leaning Tower of Pisa as its undoubtedly the world's most famous tower. It is standing next to Pisa Cathedral.

The best time to visit Leaning Tower of Pisa is either morning or late evening when there are very few tourists. We decided to spend our evening there, and it was worth it.

2. Piazza dei Miracolli

It is a cathedral square dominated by four great religious structures: the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry, the Campanile, and the Camposanto Monumentale.

3. Baptistery

The Pisa Baptistery of St. John is a Roman Catholic building in Pisa and is part of the same complex where Leaning Tower of Pisa is situated.

Other places to explore in Pisa are Camposanto, Cattedrale Pisa, Piazza dei Cavalieri, Palazzo dei Cavalieri and Santo Sepolcro.

After spending evening near Leaning Tower of Pisa and visiting the rest of the places in Pisa, we decided to have our dinner. There are many nearby restaurants to stop by. Also, there is a shopping street beside Piazza dei Miracolli where you can get souvenirs.

After dinner, we sat in the main square of Pisa, which was quite lively even at night. Then, we return to the station to catch our train to Rome. It is too much for a single day, but for exploring Florence and Pisa to get some incredible experience in terms of nature, architecture, history, art etc. its all worth it.

Note: You can easily explore both cities in a day. But if you have more days, you can stay in Florence.

Florence - Pisa - Train tickets - 8.60 Euros
