The Amarnath Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, temples in the South Asian region that commemorate the location of fallen body parts of Sati. Hundreds and thousands of devotees plan an annual pilgrimage to this famous Amarnath temple without fearing the challenging mountainous terrain.

Last year, because of the pandemic, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB Board) had cancelled the Amarnath Yatra. But, finally, there is good news for people who were eagerly waiting to visit the holy cave shrine of Amarnathji in South Kashmir Himalayas.

Commencement of the Amarnath Yatra

According to reports, the Amarnath Yatra will commence on 28th June this year and will culminate on the day when Rakshabandhan will be celebrated i.e. 22nd August 2021. The Jammu and Kashmir administration have informed that Advance registration of pilgrims from Amarnath Yatra will commence from April 1 through 446 designated branches of Punjab National Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Bank and YES Bank, located in 37 states and Union Territories.

He further added, "During the meeting, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board approved the enhancement of remunerations for Pujaris from existing ₹1000 per day to ₹1500 per day for the next three years."

Highlights of This Year's Yatra

The good news doesn't stop here. There is something special about this year's Amarnath Yatra.

The spokesperson have informed that this year the 'Yatris' will be provided with free of cost battery car service up and down of the 2.75-km-long Baltal to Domel stretch. There will also be provision of best-in-class healthcare facilities to all the visiting devotees and service providers.

The SASB board will also be issuing silver coins of 5 gm and 10 gm denomination through the Metal and Mineral Trading Corporation (MMTC). These coins will be sold to the pilgrims at the cave shrine and the Board offices during the Yatra.

Registration Rules and Regulations

A 'Yatra permit' will be granted to the intending pilgrims that will be valid for a specified date and route. A piece of advice to the pilgrims: Please secure the prescribed compulsory health certificates before seeking your advance registration from the nearest designated bank.
