Kakinada would have been a coastal town quite like other coastal towns, there are coconuts, boats , boatloads of fish but it also houses the second largest Mangroves in India, Coringa Mangroves and this makes it a place like no other. The mangroves cover 335.7 square km area, house an amazing variety of flora and fauna and is a bird lover's paradise. Small creeks opening into the huge bay, standing on top of the dilapidated lighthouse to get an aerial view of the entire mangrove, trying to chat with the boatman even though neither of us understood the others language, being helped by a local, getting caught in the bay at the dead of the night are some of the things I experienced and probably wouldn't trade them for anything.
