I live in Kumta, and Jog is at a distance of 50 km. We randomly hit the road one day and decided to explore Jog to find out the hype that floats amongst the locals here. They say 'Jog is like a pilgrimage spot for us and we tell everyone to visit once in their lifetime, else life isn't complete'.
The way to Jog is something that will stay in your memory forever. Yes there were a couple of landslides but the stunning view of Western ghats will fade out the landslide memory within seconds.
Moreover, there are multiple small waterfall and streams that you will stumbled upon of you are going in the Monsoon, which is the ideal season for Jog. You would want to stop everywhere and click.
