Travel has changed post COVID. The ways in which you can vacation are probably as myriad as the places where you can. I learnt that the one big factor in seeking interesting experiences relies on how (not just ‘where’) we choose to stay on a vacation. Because how we stay can now, very well, decide how we vacation.
Syna Heritage Hotel
When I decided to visit Khajuraho, I know I had to pick a place that added charm to the already historical town. Syna Heritage Hotel was a perfect blend of traditional charm and luxury, with an ambience of elegance. The first look at the property felt like I was walking into a palace and not just a hotel. The architecture, sandstone texture, the jaalis, the Gond art hung on the walls and the extravagant entrance of the property made it even more enticing.
I personally liked the way the safety checks were in place. The staffs were wearing masks all the time. Right from checking the temperature when I entered to cleaning the room on regular basis, Syna Heritage Hotel took measures to ensure safety and hygiene for their staffs and guests staying at their property.
Our Suite Room
This heritage hotel consists of 2 floors comprising of 28 opulent rooms, aesthetically decorated with a touch of modern amenities. I stayed in their Suite room, the highest category the property can offer with artful interiors and Rajasthani miniature paintings adorning the walls. My favourite part of the room was the ultra-spacious washroom fitted with a private jacuzzi.
Restaurant & Food
Food is one of the reasons why I love travel and I don’t shy away from tasting local delicacies whenever and wherever I travel. The Kama restaurant at Syna Heritage Hotel serves delicious food which was finger-licking good. I mostly tried Indian dishes for dinner: Cheese balls for the starter were yummy. The Bundela Chicken curry was an absolute delight. The dish was a local relish, flavourful, fragrant, rich in spices, the chicken pieces were succulent, I should say I scooped it down with butter rotis and green peas pulao.
For breakfast, I settled for a continental menu with eggs, toast, and juice to go along. I loved how they quickly set the breakfast for us in the outdoor garden area. When you stay in the property, you can request them for an outdoor breakfast and they would be more than happy to set it up for you.
Swimming Pool & Garden
This was the third time in the entire year of 2021, I got a chance to take a dip in the pool. I’m glad and grateful just for that. The swimming pool at Syna is well maintained and the water was clean. The pool is not too big nor too small, just the right size, ideal for cooling off after a tiring day of temple hopping or even just to lounge around and relax. I mostly settled for the latter.
The beauty of this property is not just well-maintained rooms and delicious food, they also have perfectly manicured lawns for us to soak in, relax and read a book.
Around the Hotel
The western group of temples in Khajuraho is just 500m from the hotel. You can just walk to the temples at any time of the day. The Eastern group of temples is 3kms and Raneh waterfalls is around 40kms from Syna Heritage Hotel. The Tribal folk museum is right behind the property, this was under renovation when I visited Khajuraho.
There are no flights flying in and out of Khajuraho even though the town has an airport. Trains are the best way to commute to other cities and the station is around 11kms from Syna.
What I love about Syna?
The property people made sure that the COVID safety measures were in place.
Definitely, definitely their well-ventilated rooms with private jacuzzi set-up. Even the super-deluxe rooms were spacious with clean washroom fittings.
Staffs were courteous and took care of us like family. They even gave us their 2-wheeler to go sightseeing.
Swimming pool was a personal highlight for me cause I love being in the water
Ask for their Chef’s Bundela Chicken curry when you visit the place. You’ll love it!
The only thing I missed was the mesmerizing vintage cars on the property. I was told it wasn’t around when I stayed with them. Apart from that, the property has all the right elements to make your stay memorable.
Syna Heritage Hotel is a perfect place for you to unwind, enjoy the rustic air, take a break by the pool, read a book or two and go temple hopping nearby. Trust me, the place will stay in your memory for a long time.
