Delhi is gearing up to host the world’s most powerful leaders for the G20 Summit on September 9 and 10. But what does this mean for the people who live, work, or travel in the city? Here are some of the major impacts of the summit on the air and ground services in the national capital.

Air India offers a waiver for flight changes

Air India, the national carrier, has announced that it will allow passengers who have booked flights to or from Delhi between September 7 and 11 to change their travel date or flight without any extra charges. This is due to the travel restrictions imposed in the city for the G20 Summit. The airline said passengers only have to pay the difference in fare, if any, for the rescheduled flight. They can also contact the airline’s customer service numbers for any query.

Delhi shuts down parts of NDMC area

The G20 Summit will bring together the leaders of the world’s 20 major economies in Delhi on September 9 and 10. To ensure the security and smooth functioning of the summit, the government and private offices, educational institutions, markets and banks in the New Delhi Police District will be closed from September 8 to 10. The Delhi Police has made elaborate security and traffic arrangements in the capital for the global event.

The police also clarified that the restrictions are only imposed in a small portion of the NDMC area, and the rest of Delhi is open. They urged people not to believe in rumours and cooperate with the police.

Online deliveries prohibited in New Delhi district

The Delhi Police has also announced that the delivery of online orders and other services will be barred in the New Delhi district due to the G20 Summit. This means that all cloud kitchens, commercial establishments, markets, food delivery and commercial delivery services will be shut from September 8 to 10 in the area.

However, some essential services, such as delivery of medical items, have been exempted from the restrictions. The police said this is necessary to ensure safety and security during the summit.
