Along 1/undefined by Tripoto

Along, or Aolo, is a tiny market town located in Arunachal Pradesh. It is full of natural beauty with rivers and mountains and trees all around. It has a temperate climate and is easily accessible by road. Along is one of the few towns in Arunachal Pradesh that has a well established educational setup. Besides being smack in the middle of nature, Along also offers some major tourist attractions such as the Darka village, Kazu village, Patum bridge, Donyi Polo temple and the Ramakrishna Ashram.

Aalo to MechukaFrom plains, grasslands and hills to the mountains. Mechuka is at a distance of 190 km from Aalo. Along with the views of snow-clad peaks, you can also see exotic tribal engaged in their daily action. You may have to get down off your bike to walk on some hanging bridges here.

We visited many Tagin and Adi villages on our way to Along, in the West Siang district from Along. Along is situated on the border of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the towns with some archaeological relevance. Malinithan, a temple site, was excavated and the artifacts are stored at the Jawaharlal Nehru Museum. I visited the Ramakrishna Ashram and then came across a hanging bridge made of cane and bamboo, a beautiful example of sustainable architecture.
