Ellora Tourism and Travel Guide

We've all heard numerous stories about the enchanting twin caves of Ajanta and Ellora. Located about 30 km from Aurangabad, Ellora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are a total of 34 caves in Ellora that are inspired by Buddhist architecture and are a delight for history buffs, art lovers, photographers and explorers. Quiet, serene and extremely pleasing, Ellora should be on every traveller's list! Do visit the stunning Kailasa Temple in Ellora's cave 16. Considered to be one of the largest rock-cut temples in the world, the temple assumes an overwhelming presence and is a sight to behold. It is an attempt to replicate the temple at Mount Kailasa, the abode of Lord Shiva and for tourists visiting, it truly does seem like an impression. There are a few other places to see in Ellora including waterfalls and temples, though every touristy spot is connected to the caves and it'll be quite a surprise if you do find time to visit other places! The caves can take up to 3 days if you want to explore them thoroughly and enjoy the art and architecture. Do remember that the caves are closed on Tuesday, but open on all national holidays.
