Phalut

More than 50% of the people who come to Sandakphu, either by trekking or through roads often end up leaving Phalut mostly because of the continuous 21 km trail. If you are travelling by vehicle, the British era Land Rovers that are the only option till Sandakphu, you probably have to Miss Phalut as there is no motorable road till there. But for the trekkers, here are the reasons why Phalut is a must go!• More than 15 km of this route passes through the valleys and it is the most scenic one of the whole trek.• There is only single Trekker’s Hut at the top that offers amazing panoramic view of Kanchenjunga, Mount Everest and Sleeping Buddha.• Snowfall turns the place into a paradise. Make a snowman and enjoy snow fight with your friends.• The descent from Phalut to Gorkhey is also an adventure in itself. 14 km downside trek entirely through the jungles gives you thrills.

The way to Phalut, our next stop, was the most scenic. A continuous 21km trail through the valleys whose beauty leaves you speechless. And just when we thought that we have seen everything on this journey and there can't be anything more beautiful, snowfall started, turning the place into a white heaven. And how can you not make a snowman and click pictures with it!! Next 2 days were descent, first to Gorkhey and then to Srikhola - our last point. There is a special wine made of Rhodo Dendron flowers called ‘Roxy’ which is a must try though avoid having it at very high altitudes..

Day 6: Where are you Red Panda?Today’s trek takes us to Phalut, from where we will get the closest views of the Sleeping Buddha and the Everest range, and then to our campsite Gorkhey. There were no traces of snowfall happening soon now. Got up early to capture the sunrise on Kanchenjunga.

On the third day we had to go Phalut and return back ( Distance : approx 20km),as one can watch an even close view of the mighty Himalayas .As we headed towards our next destination the weather began to change ,as we had enough warm clothes with us so no worries. Its recommended to take a backup ,just incase. The view from the hill top of Phalut makes you speecless ,as you will find the mighty himalaya ranges lying close to your nose .What a beauty ,great lord has created. You will love yourself as being part of it.Have a cup of hot tea along with maggie prepared by the locals .Now returning back to Sandakphu as accomodation might not be possible at Phalut.Be ready to enjoy the bumpy ride once again.Night at the Hut with friends having a good time sharing the experience of the trip .
