Sandakphu Trek

Known as one of the most beautiful Himalayan treks, Sandakphu Trek is among the best treks for adventure seekers and nature lovers. Offering outstanding views of snow-capped mountains, clear skies and enticing earth, the route offers heavenly experiences in the state.

Behold the gorgeous views of Khangchendzonga, Mt. Everest, Makalu and Lhotse from the highest peak of West Bengal, Sandakhpu peak. Located at 12,000 feet, Sandakhpu trek is less challenging than the other trails.

Towering at 8,586 metres, the Singalila Ridge Trek runs towards the majestic Mt. Khangchendzonga. It is, arguably the most picturesque of all the trails in the state. The trek begins close to Darjeeling and goes through Sandakphu, Phalut and the Singalila Peak. When you trek through this route, you pass by paths decorated with magnolia, rhododendron, bamboo groves and pine forests.

Duration: 6 days

Ideal time to visit: March to Mid June, Mid September to November

This 21 kilometre long trail begins from Sandakphu and goes till Phalut. The terrain is easy to walk on so even beginners can enjoy the thrill here. It takes you through a dense forest of pines, oaks, spruces, chestnuts, with the sweet scent of magnolias and shrubs of rhododendrons wafting in the air. You can also behold magnificent view of majestic peaks such as Mt. Kangchendzonga, Mt. Everest and several others.
