From Majestic palaces to endless sand dunes : Rajasthan like never before.

This was my second visit to Rajasthan. Having seen most of the touristy fare previously, I decided to do a more off-beat trip this time around.

Our trip started off in Udaipur - The City of Lakes. Staying true to its name, the city's central and most picturesque attraction is the Lake Pichola, where one can see large crowds gather around to catch the sunset every evening. Simultaneously from here, one can also view the City Palace being lit up with pretty lights that border the palace.

Next we were off to Jaisalmer - or 'The Golden City'.  Long story short: When in Jaisalmer, please do not miss the desert safari. It is worth every penny spent. Be it the amazing jeep ride across the arid desert landscapes, the camel ride or the unbeatable sunset view on the Thar Desert, this one's a must-do. Even better if you opt for the overnight package like we did, where one can see the whole night sky filled with stars (shooting stars even!) at midnight - a sight way too surreal to be described in words.

The last leg of the trip was Jodhpur, or The Blue City. Yes, Rajasthan seems to be obsessed with colour-coordinating their cities in case you haven't noticed. Nevertheless, the main attraction here is the Mehrangarh Fort where one can easily spend a good 3-4 hours walking around and taking in the breathtaking views of the city from above. You may also opt to do Zip-lining across the fort to get a chance to experience the fort from a unique perspective.

And of course, when in Jodhpur one cannot leave without trying the world famous Mishrilal Hotel's Makhniya Lassi - creamy and indulgent, this is the lassi of your dreams which is a great way to cool off after a hectic day of sightseeing.
