Every fort and palace in Jaipur come with one of a kind, exhibitions which exhibit all types of arts, photography, arms, armors, articles and many more. And, even in Jaigarh fort, it is the same scenario. You can find a museum and most importantly Laxmi Vilas Palace, which is considered as the main palace of the fort exhibits the daily lifestyle of Kings and Queens when they used to rule.

Maharaja Jai Singh II has built this fort with utmost care to protect the people in Amber Palace. Whenever they used to sense anything hazardous, the royal people get shifted from Amber palace to Jaigarh fort through the subterranean passage. And which clearly says, that this elevated fort used to host royal blood, the guests from other kingdoms like kings and fellow royal men.

Soon after you step in the Jaigarh Fort, after crossing three entrance gates, which are sheltered by closed fort walls, you can find the Awami gate. You must cross the gate and walk for a while on the rock floored passage and you will find the museum. This museum exhibits all the photographs of the rulers and the descendants of the rulers of Amer and Jaipur, basically all the royal Rajputs who used to be treated as successors to Man Singh 1. These photographs are clicked in those times and exhibited in this museum currently. This also consists of clothes used by the royal descendants.

You can find the photographs, stamps, textiles, and articles belong to Jai Singh II, Sawai Bhavani Singh, Man Singh II and other princes and the guests who visited these Rajputs back when they were ruling or taking care of the Pink city.

The photos of royal descendants, army General man Singh 2, the Jaigarh fort construction pictures, the before and after renovation pictures, the royal family pictures and many more. You will enjoy these photographs only if you read who & what about the picture which is exhibited near the pictures. Do not skip them. Take your time and read. You will enjoy the knowledge for sure!

After you get done with the museum, then you must cross the Subhat Niwas and Khilbati Niwas to reach the Laxmi Vilas Palace. The inner routes in the Jaigarh fort are confusing and you may even forget the way too. You hardly see any signs which mention the route map. So, you need to be a little alert while going from one place to another Palace.

The Laxmi Vilas is a courtyard that is confined to private guests and the royal men and women. You can find a yellow pavilion erected on the red floor of the courtyard just like Subhat Niwas. Here, you can find the pavilion with drums that were used to alert people to listen to the announcements, palanquins for queens and princesses, the hanging lights and some material which were used for the announcements in the courtyard. You can find a huge mango tree in one side corner and another small pavilion exactly opposite to the main pavilion.

Soon after you cross the Laxmi Vilas courtyard, you can find Lalit Mandir. This is the very place, where you can find the cooking stations, dining halls, royal dining gathering halls, puppet theater. You should not miss spending a good time over here. This whole segregation of various halls will let you know how the Kings and Queens used to spend their free time and their eating habits.

Soon after I entered after roaming here and there for several times, I found the Puppet theater. I have never been to a puppet show before, except I have watched on some shows. But this was completely live. There was an artist with Dhol in his lap sitting in that theater. With the suggestion of a security guard, I asked him to play a small show for me. Hence, I got excited and asked him to play. He gave around a five-minute awesome puppet show. I tipped him because he was truly talented. So, if you ever visit this fort, relax here for a while and get some royal entertainment.

During past centuries, hardly there was any movie theater. There used to be puppet shows happening everywhere. The Kings and Queens used to relax for some entertainment whenever they felt bored. And then next comes, the dining halls. The interesting part is the dining halls are separated for men and women.

You find a closed hall with statues inside dining together in large Thalis (plates with bowls) and you can find a main statue in the center, and remaining statues seem to sit beside one another on either side of the main statue. It shows how Kings used to dine with their ministers, guests, and others.

And the next hall was even more thrilling and my favorite one. I saw a closed dining hall where 9 women statues sat on the floor and having food from the huge Thalis, where some other women were serving them and fanning them while they were eating. These statues portray how the 9 wives of King Jai Singh used to dine together and how they got royally treated by other women workers when they had their food. It was regal enough and such an eye feat though.

If you walk along the passage and take rights and lefts, you can find closed cooking stations where royal chefs and workers used to cook. The fascinating part was, I saw different cooking stations for different food items. To make Rotis or Chapatis, there was a different station and to make curries and cooking rice there were other stations and halls.

You could witness the whole scene through the exhibition of statues of working men and women and chefs, making rotis, curries, and rice in huge utensils. I love these kinds of exhibitions which can make people understand the whole scene without descriptions. I found them interesting to the core.

And then after I crossed these, I ended up into another open courtyard, which is attached to the Lalit Mandir, where some royal furniture, cradles, swings, chairs were exhibited. Those were all the real ones that were used by the Kings and Queens in the past.

After you see all these things which are exhibited in the halls, courtyards, and rooms of the Palaces in the Jaigarh fort, you must find your way which leads to Sagar Chatri, the huge exterior space of the Jaigarh fort, from which you can witness the bird's eye view in and around of the fort. Well, now that you have explored the inner exhibitions of the Jaigarh fort, stay tuned to witness the outer views of the fort!
