The experience was all dreamy. We booked Genting Dream Cruise and Balcony Staterooms for our stay on the cruise. Our package was for 6 days and 5 nights for 4 adults.
Our plan was Singapore-Malaysia-Cambodia-Thailand-Singapore. The cruise departed from Marina Bay cruise centre, Singapore. It sailed the entire night and dropped us to a new island every morning and we can travel around the place for the entire day.
Genting Dream cruise ship deck plan has a total of 1674 cabins for 3352 passengers (max occupancy is 3400 guests) served by 2016 crew/staff. The ship has 14 passenger accessible decks (out of 18), with 35 restaurants, bars and lounges, 2 swimming pools, 4 jacuzzies, 16 elevators, Water Park with 6 waterslides, outdoor movie screen, 3D Cinema, Rope Course, Zip Line, rock climbing, zodiac theatre. The ship also has 2 mini-submarines with capacity 4 passengers each. JUST IMAGINE HOW LAVISH AND EXTRAVAGANT IT WAS.
The 6 day cruise costed us Rs. 153000 (approx) for 4 people and one cabin (Yes, they allow 4 people in one cabin) which included Cabin fare and Port taxes. The inclusions and exclusions on the cruise were as under:-
2. Up to 6 meals per person per day
3. General entertainment onboard (evening entertainment where live performances take place)
4. Access to entertainment venues, sports and recreational areas, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gymnasium, etc.
1. Liquor, laundry, telephone calls, dining at alternate restaurants, beauty and spa or massage treatment, soft drinks, onboard shopping and medical services
2. Port charges to be paid extra
3. Visa Fees (if required)
4. Game Rental / Conference Facilities
We reached the cruise around 3 p.m. All the formalities including the check-in, room allotment was done after that. We were allotted a key card which served as an identity card and as the room key as well, which we had to carry at all times when we are going out and even at the restaurant, we needed to show that. So, it was the most important thing while on the cruise. Then, the entire time was at leisure. We had a look of the cruise, the fun activities, the casinos, the entertainment deck. The ship consisted of a total of 18 decks, and we stayed on Deck 13, so it was kind of impossible to have a look of the entire cruise in one day. I would suggest to go for deck as high as possible, since the breezy wind will blow off your mind.
The cruise sailed the entire night and dropped us to Palau Redang island in Malaysia. Since, there was no port around, we went to the island with the help of motor boats. We went to a nearby island from there on motor boat for experiencing snorkeling. It was my first experience with snorkeling and it was just WOW. We were provided with the snorkel (the equipment) and there was no time limitation, other than we had to reach the cruise by the evening.
Snorkeling allows anyone to have fun quickly and at no risk. There’s no need for hours of training before giving it a try : it’s instant fun from the very first time you get in the water ! The underwater world is full of life, colors, shapes and unexpected encounters. It is refreshing and breathtaking to be in the aquatic environment and experience life underwater. With minimum efforts, you get to experience the most of it and carry a lifetime experience. Then, back to the cruise in the evening. We saw China's Got Talent - The dream experience in the evening time. The cinematic experience was magnificent.
The next day, the cruise dropped us in Cambodia. Bordered by Thailand, Cambodia is a land of elusive wildlife and tropical adventures. We first visited Wat Leu Temple in Sihanoukville. It is one of the five main temples in Sihanoukville. On a hill, in the middle of a forest, the temple is surrounded by a large stone wall, overlooking the city and the neighboring islands. Then we did the local sightseeing tour and then went for some local shopping.
The currency of Cambodia - Cambodia Riel = Rs. 0.018, which meant one coconut water was sold for 20,000 Cambodian Riel, Strange. Another strange thing - The locals valued Dollars more than their currency, some of them didn't even know the quotes in Riel. Now, it was time for some adventures. We did jet ski ride, and the twist was, we were handed over the jet ski without any instructor. It was so much thrill and fun to ride it on our own. Then, went back to the cruise and had some fun time playing chess, golf, table tennis on the cruise.
Every other day, live performances and shows, theme parties, game nights were organised and one can enjoy the shows out there. We spent our time enjoying the show 'Voyage of lovers Dream' in the evening.
The next morning, we were dropped at Laem Chabang port in Thailand. We had 2 options there - either go to Bangkok or Pattaya and we chose the latter one. We opted to go to Coral Island, Pattaya, a little piece of paradise. It is ringed by beautiful white-sand beaches and warm turquoise seas. The Coral beach is just a 45 minutes boat ride from Pattaya pier. We chose a speed boat to cover the distance, and I must tell you, it was one of the most amazing 45 minutes, all credits go to the amazing weather change. It started raining heavily with storm on its way while we were still on the boat, it was just too adventurous.
You can also cover Sanctuary of Truth (Temple) or The Tiger park, or both if the time allows. We just had a look of the temple and proceeded towards Tiger park. There we got the opportunity to play with the real tigers and capture with them. We also covered Pattaya floating market and then back to the cruise.
It was the time for zumba session in the evening, and it was super fun in the breezy weather. Various zumba sessions, yoga sessions were organised in the morning as well as in the evening to keep people engaged and entertained.
The cruise was sailing the entire day today since we had to reach Singapore Bay the next day. So, we were on the cruise the entire day and had an amazing time exploring the cruise. On special request, we were allowed to have a look over the Palace deluxe suit, Palace villa and palace penthouse and believe me, it was another world out there. It was so so good. Most of the activities were at the Main pool deck on Deck 16. We spent the leisure day having fun doing water slides, jacuzzi, activities at the Zouk beach club, having buffet at 'The Lido' (it was the only restaurant where the buffet and vegetarian food was available and it was vast). Three decks were reserved for Casinos and one can try his/her hands out there, if lucky, you could win something. There were Live 3D Fireworks to enhance the experience on The Dream Cruise.
Those 5 days on the cruise without any network on the phone, away from the busy schedules and just enjoying the cool climate and beauty of nature was so mesmerizing. Various dance performances, entertainers, were always entertaining people at all times. There was so much to engage while on the cruise, we couldn't cover everything but tried to cover the most of it. The aura, the climate, the surrounding while on board was worth experiencing. If given a chance to go back, I would certainly not miss the chance.
